&what | Stripes & Stans.

Saturday morning, strutting around Shoreditch in Stan Smiths.

A little too far gone on the trainer wagon, our collection is growing exponentially. We can’t get enough of the acceptable comfiness of this footwear, hoping this trend never changes.

Saturday in Shoreditch involved stuffing our faces at Hoi Polloi in the Ace Hotel – one of our London faves. The pancakes were to die for, and came with maple syrup – a little taste of home. Stumbled upon this lovely park just off the high street with little fairy lights and lots of free benches. So romantic, luckily we had our two favourite men with us at the time – Phillip and Stan (Smith that is).

Outfit details: Hat – TopShop (similar here), Coat – Theory, Top – &OtherStories, Trousers – Rag & Bone, Trainers – Stan Smiths, Bag – 3.1 Phillip Lim.

&what | Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And the best part is, it comes around TWICE.

Yup – February and September have always been our favourite months. This February was no different.

We jet set to NYC for another season of no sleep, daily outfit planning, sampling of the season must-haves (food and fashion of course), containing ourselves when seeing DVF in the flesh, champagne with Kelly Cutrone, breakfast beside with Karlie Kloss and her fam (our tables were close enough…), favouring fashion over practicality when stepping out into -25C Polar Vortex temperatures and so much more.

Here’s a little recap of the week starring Emily, Greg, DVF herself, Kendall, The Coveteur, Carolina Herrera, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Herve Leger and Misha Nonoo. Don’t you just hate it when people name drop? Yeah, us too.

DVF and Anna Wintour. She’s always the woman to me – what a fantastic show.

En route to KTZ. Guests of Kelly Cutrone. Met her in the lobby and had 2 bottles of champagne with her bright and early at 11AM. Her advice for how to get through fashion week is to have champagne at every opportunity, couldn’t agree more.

Walks in Central Park with Emily in between shows and champagne. Clearly taking on board Kelly’s advice.

Got to meet this little guy on set. Something Dylan watching his throne.

Little compliments from NYC hidden everywhere.

Fashion Week = Candice Kaye Reunions. This girl is killing it in NYC.

A final farewell brunch at Jacks Wife Freda on Lafayette Street. NYC you were so good to us.

We will never get tired of this concrete jungle.

Until next season!

&what | ART: On Kawara.

On Kawara: A Japanese artist living in New York City. Part of the Conceptual Art community, which grew in popularity in the 1960s, On Kawara’s exhibition at the Guggenheim in New York City was fascinating.

On Kawara’s art is beautifully insane. For a man that managed to paint the same painting everyday for 45 years – that’s gotta take some dedication and a switch in the brain that clearly not everyone has on.

Every day of the year, On Kawara would cut out a news article of relevance and would paint the date on a canvas. If the painting was not done by midnight that day, he would destroy it. The paintings ranged in side and colour, the methodology and thought behind everything that On Kawara did was meticulous.

Nothing. Something. Everything – On Kawara.

The news and events covered in his paintings are politically charged. His paper clippings often have to do with the war, the space race and political debates.

His next project involved writing down everywhere he went, who he met and what he read each day. This information (art) was filed away in books.

Following that, he sent post cards to random people around America that had the time he woke up stamped on it.

The Guggenheim is such a special museum and place to appreciate art. This building itself is spectacular, but the architecture inside makes for a relaxing, soothing space to take it all in. A much needed and deserved break after life at New York Fashion Week!

The On Kawara – Silence Exhibition is on until May 6th 2015. Make sure you get down there! We absolutely loved it.
